Mary-Kate comes to the New Life House with a wealth of management as well as life experience. Mary-Kate has always felt passionate about taking care of others, and spreading the knowledge of self-care. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry.
A Personalized Treatment Plan
Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket. Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client’s past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals. During cognitive behavioral therapy in Massachusetts, clients work with a trained counselor to identify negative thinking patterns and change them. This change in thinking has been shown to lead to changes in behavior to treat substance use and mental health disorders effectively. A native of Oak Square in Brighton, he is also a long-term member of Allston-Brighton PAUSES, formerly the Allston Brighton Substance Abuse Task Force, so coming to work at New Life House is kind of a homecoming. With a deeply held belief that long-term recovery is both life-saving and attainable for our clients, Erik will bring his compassion and dedication to bear in this role. We place a strong emphasis on welcoming residents with disabilities, though our residents form a true mosaic of life, from all cultures and walks of life.
Ky helps create a welcoming environment here at New Life House through their intake process and making sure each resident feels seen and welcomed. Mary-Kate believes in a holistic approach towards helping clients achieve long-term sobriety, and is thrilled to continue on her path in working in recovery with the Granada team. Erik brings significant experience in human services, non-profit management, and general legal practice to New Life House. Erik has successfully demonstrated skills in evaluating regulatory and contract matters, client advocacy, developing client relationships and management. Whether on staff, or a resident, it is an incredible place to grow and develop resilience.
We are a family; one that exists to help residents realize for themselves the potential within themselves and their lives after addiction. Finding with them the person they were, and the person they are yet to become, free of addiction. During family therapy, the therapist works with every member of the family unit to understand the role they play in their loved one’s addiction. By addressing these patterns, family members learn healthier ways to interact with each other and contribute to a more effective recovery journey for the family member who is addicted. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well.
Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Prior to joining New Life House, Erik practiced law in Connecticut and Massachusetts in a sole proprietorship and within firms. Most recently, Erik served at a residential program for persons with developmental disability, advancing that program’s quality of service and professionalism over the course of years. Having worked intermittently in human services since 2003, Erik has a proven record of commitment to upholding client rights, dignity; and furthering service coordination and support. Addiction is a highly complex problem, and drug rehab in Massachusetts is often necessary to address it. These programs treat physical, mental, and relational issues that are involved. There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members. New Life House works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.
To start the referral process, Case Managers will need to send our team a completed New Life House Referral Form, Bio Psych Social, and Medication List. We do not receive any commission or fee that is dependent upon which treatment provider a caller chooses. The house is really laid back and definitely gives you a feeling of home. Transitional housing is temporary housing for the working homeless population and is set up to transition their residents to permanent housing. Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan.
